Talk on Kung Fu Master Mr. Lau Kar Leung’s Movies

This week’s colloquium will focus on the films of Kung Fu master Lau Kar Leung, with presentations by Prof. Richard Allen, Dean of the School of Creative Media, Mr. Hing Chao and Prof. Jeffrey Shaw.

Topic: The films of Kung Fu Master Lau Kar Leung

Abstract:
This week’s talk will address three different aspects of Lau Kar Leung’s work. Prof. Richard Allen, Dean of the School of Creative Media, will give an introduction and overview of Lau Kar Leung’s films from a cinematic viewpoint; Mr. Hing Chao will present Leung’s Shaw Brothers era classic films from a martial arts perspective; while Prof. Jeffrey Shaw will discuss the relevance and importance of Leung’s film legacy and how it may be brought into the 21st century with new media.

Screening:
The International Guoshu Association and SCM are pleased to present six screenings of Kung Fu Master Lau Kar Leung’s films on the 24th and 25th of November. Please find details below — all are welcome!
